Visiting Harstad this morning. Walk around town and take a few pictures in the beautiful morning light.
Further south on our way to Risøyhamn and Sortland we sail through the 3 mile long man built Risøyrenna channel.
Just after lunch we arrive in Stomarknes where the Hutigruten idea was born in 1893. We visit the Hutigruten museum to see what things were like on the older Hutigruten ships - and got a bit of a Titanic feeling!!
The old and the new Finnmarken - must admit, our one in the background is slightly more comfortable! |
At about 16:00 we start sailing through the narrow and beautiful strait of Rafsund and then to the mouth of the Trollfjorden again.
Nice to experience the Trollfjorden in daylight (on our way north we passed here just before midnight!)
Late afternoon we get to spend 2 hours in beautiful Svolvær on one of the Lofoton islands.
In Svolvær everything has to to with the fishing industry - clearly!! Fish drying racks everywhere!!
