Vadso, Kirkenes, Vardo, Batsfjord and Berlevag

Got up early to have breakfast while still in Vadsø.  Next we arrive in Kirkenes, our turningpoint and just 10 km from the Russian border.  Lots of Russian fishing boats in the harbour.

Today is our day for King Crab Fishing!  We each get a really warm and waterproof suit to put on and a life jacket and pair of leather gloves.  Makes one feel really crab proof!

We cross the fjord in a rubber duck and watch while the nets are being pulled out, filled with our delicious lunch!!

The 'restaurant'on the other side of the fjord.

Really, really delicious!!

Then we turn back south again and make an afternoon stop in Vardø, eastern most town, on island Vardøya.

.... and so it is, especially if it's your main source of income!

Steilneset Memorial

The Steilneset Memorial in Vardø commemorates the trial and execution in the seventeenth century of men and women being found guilty of the practice of witchcraft.

An half hour stop in Båtsfjord gives us just enough time to walk around and take a few pretty and colourful pictures.
